Julia graduated from La Pieetra Hawaii School for Girls. She played volleyball for school and was a member of the VB Club: Jammers. As a graduation project, Julia taught her classmates to do a hula for their High School graduation video. Julia loves everything Hawaiian, including the food. Her favorite indulgences are maple bacon donut at Donut King and Strawberry shave ice at Shamzu’s. She loves watching TikTok and listening to all genres of music. She loves her dog Tucker who keep her company, and wishes she could take him with her when she leaves for college. Kiana, as her mother and friend call her, is a talented hula dancer, loves yoga, and the 

Kiana is passionate about Hawaiian Native rights, social justice, and was a representative at the Hawaii Wahine Forum, and was co-chair for her school’s Mental Health Conference focusing on mental health awareness and care. 

Her IP project was on Sex Trafficking in her senior year, and volunteered to work with PPSEAWA Hi on making HOPE bags for young women caught in sex trafficking here in Hawaii. 

Julia-Rose will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She plans to major in education with a minor in psychology. Her future plans are to work with disadvantaged children and perhaps therapy. She has lots of dreams and hopes and is always thinking about how she wants to make a difference for the betterment of the world. 

Maile, a recent graduate of Punahou School, is continuing her studies at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California. She is enrolled as a business administration major at USC’s Marshall School of Business. She is hoping to minor in communications design, and is currently taking a drawing class. At Punahou, she took various art classes and expressed her creativity in drawing, painting, and digital art. 

At Punahou, Maile enjoyed playing volleyball since shows 9 years old, which she hopes to continue doing in college at USC in their club or intramural teams. 

In her spare time, Maile loves watching Netflix; especially Friends, The Office, NCIS, and How To Get Away with Murder. She is always interested in trying new foods from different types of cuisines, and her favorite is Hawaiian plate lunch! 

High School graduation this year was quite an unusual event, and even though it wasn’t how she expected it to be, it was so amazing to see all of her classmates coming together (6 ft. apart) to celebrate each other see all that they had accomplished. “It was a wonderful ending to such a long and important journey”, said Maile. 

She would like to find a career that she enjoys so much that work wouldn’t even feel like work! She wants to be able to incorporate her passion for art into whatever she ends up doing. She’s hoping that her work also benefits others in need. She also wants to travel around the world, experiencing all this Earth has to offer - Italy, Greece, Japan, and France to name a few counties on her bucket list!
