At the PPSEAWA-USA Board meeting in Minneapolis in the fall of 2003, it was decided to endow the Hague Appeal for Peace: Global Campaign for Peace Education. The goal of the Hague Appeal for Peace is to sow the seeds for the abolition of war and create a culture of peace. As an endorser, PPSEAWA-USA has a responsibility to carry out concrete activities to advance the goals of the Global Campaign for Peace Education.
We hope that all chapters will plan a program to celebrate September 21st which the United Nations has declared an International Day of Peace. September 21st will highlight the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World, 2001-2010. Chapters might plan local events to use that day to build partnerships within their community, if possible involving children and young people in the planning.
