The Chicago chapter has 33 members. Sadly, Gertrude Silver passed away in July. She was a member of the Chicago chapter for more than twenty years. Following the annual meeting of PPSEAWA-USA in New York last May, the Chicago Chapter held its own annual meeting and election of officers.

We continue to support our two philanthropies, a nursing scholarship at Oglala Lakota College on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, and a scholarship for a hearing-impaired girl student in Kanpur, India, through the Jyoti Children’s Development Fund.
We also have enjoyed our fall programs. Royal Buscombe presented a moving biography of Jane Addams. We learned about “Women in India” from Nilam Shah, a research student at Northwestern University.
The Chicago chapter hosted the national Board on November 3-4. Teresa Hintzke and Diane Posner invited the board for supper and program on Friday evening at Teresa’s lovely home. The Board meeting was held on Saturday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn in Evanston followed by a luncheon. In the evening, several out of town guests joined local members to see “Inherit the Wind.”
