Aloha PPSEAWA Hawaii sisters,
As we approach this holiday season, I wish you peace and joy in the company of your family and friends.
PPSEAWA has several upcoming events:
We are having our annual Christmas gathering on Saturday, December 8 from 11 to 2 at the Outrigger Canoe Club. In addition to eating and being merry, we will be assembling the Hope bags for Susannah Wesley C.C.’s anti-trafficking programs. Our PPSEAWA elves have been roaming the island for goodies to put in the bags—shampoo, bath soap, wash clothes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, just to name a few of the things.
Millie ‘s niece is sewing the bags for us with fabric and cords that she and Millie have kindly donated for the project. Ulrike Siddiqi and Rebecca Stephenson and others have donated money and in kind products to help fill the bags.
Hope to see you on the 8th in your best holiday cheer!
From March 11th to 22nd, 2019, PPSEAWA sisters from around the Pacific will gather in New York City with others from around the globe for the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women. The priority theme this year is Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Review theme is Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development. As participation is limited, please let me know if you are interested in attending no later than December 15. Each NMO (ie, Hawaii) may submit the names of 3 to 4 delegates to attend this UN Commission on the Status of Women conference.
The 27th PPSEAWA International Conference 2019 with the theme “Life’s Journey to Wellbeing—Fostering Wellbeing for all ages, thru gender parity, education, peace and friendship building” will be held from Saturday, 22 June, 2019 to Thursday, 27 June, 2019 at the The Caesar Park Hotel Banqiao in Taipei, Taiwan. I hope that you will all be able to attend!
To register for the International Conference, go to the PPSEAWA websites http://www.ppseawa.org/events-conferences/27th-international/part-1-inf… . There are four tabs that you need to review and fill out—registration for the conference, hotel reservations and special excursions.
In closing, I wish you all a wonderful November!
Your Hawaii President,
Dr. P. Genie Trapp
