PPSEAWA Fiji held several prgrams to commemorate the Day of Peace in 2018.
Lautoka Branch: Senior citizens were treated to a “day out” at the Novotel Hotel in Nadi.
Nadi Branch: World Peace Day was celebrated at the Nadi Civic Centre with the Nadi Naari Sabha members. Women shared their stories and there was a guest speaker.
Nausori Branch: Members organized a collection of home supplies for elderly people in the Nausori area. They filled 40 medium laundry baskets with groceries, toiletries and household items. They identified 10 elderly people or couples, and visited them on September 21, 2018.
In addition, the National President encouraged a Nausori Branch member to give peace talks to women’s groups and schools in Nausori District, emphasizing the need to resolve differences peacefully based on the concept of “Love Thy Neighbour”. This was shown in reality when members paid a visit to the Muslim mosque in Suva, to show their solidarity with the families of victims from two consecutive terrorist shooting attacks at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 15 March 2019.
Suva Branch: Members visited senior members and also our past patrons, Mrs. Kavu IIoilo and Adi Koila Mara Nailatikau, on September 21, 2018.
