Dear PPSEAWA sisters,
On this special day, March 8th, International Women’s Day, we celebrate and acknowledge the remarkable achievements of women worldwide. However, there are still significant areas where we can collaborate to achieve gender equality. As Melinda Gates aptly said, “When we invest in women and girls, we are investing in the people who invest in the future.” The faster and more comprehensive we accelerate gender equality, the better off we will all be.
PPSEAWA Taiwan has been organizing international youth empowerment workshops for seven years. The theme of the August 2024 event was “Changing the World with Young VI – The Future of Technology and Sustainability.” The event focused on technology and sustainable development, with experts sharing how innovative technologies can address global challenges. The goal is to enhance young people’s international perspectives, explore gender equality, and implement the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition, through various workshops, we empower women to develop independent thinking, generate innovative ideas, and boost their self-confidence in overcoming challenges. For instance, we will organize a National Geographic Women’s Images Exhibition titled “Women Born to Shine,” showcasing 100 captivating images featuring women as the primary subjects. These images, themed around joy, beauty, love, wisdom, strength, and hope, beautifully capture the diverse and captivating essence of women globally. They illustrate how women navigate life, confront obstacles, and forge their own paths despite adversity. Moreover, this exhibition serves as a testament to the growing societal recognition and appreciation of women.
This year, PPSEAWA Taiwan will once again participate in the NGO CSW Forum in March. We will be co-hosting a parallel forum with the Foundation for Women’s Rights Promotion and Development, with the theme “Shaping Tomorrow: Young Women Pioneering Change for Equality.” We warmly invite all PPSEAWA sisters to join us for this event, which will be held on March 11th from 2:30 to 4:00 PM New York time at CCUN 10th Floor.
Finally, we wish all PPSEAWA sisters a Happy International Women’s Day! Let us come together to celebrate the achievements of women and forge ahead with our missions.
“Together, let’s #AccelerateAction for #IWD2025 and beyond.”
Warmly,
Mandy Chen
President, PPSEAWA Taiwan
